In America in the beginning, the performing arts accomplishments of young Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely be in the category of child prodigies. As a person with Irish heritage, and surrounded as she was by gifted parents and family members did this naturally. Maureen was born in this cosy sanctuary on August 17th, 1920. She was raised by the family of her parents. The mother of Maureen, Marguerita Lulburn FitzSimons was an accomplished contralto. Her father, Charles FitzSimons, managed a business in Dublin and was also the owner of the renowned Irish soccer club "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons was the daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed this lovely family. Maureen was an athlete at heart and was a fan of tough athletic games. In addition to this her talent, she also had a knack to act. She won almost every Feis Award for Theater and Drama that her country had to give. Her acceptance at the Abbey Theater by age 14 She then pursued her dreams of operatic and classical singing and theater.
